HOW TO GET TO COURT

Location of the Courts

The Magistrate and Supreme Courts are located at 4-6 Knowles Place Canberra City (Civic) and are incorporated into one building. The Magistrates Court is located to the left of the entry foyer, and the Supreme Court to the right. The enquiry counter for both Courts is located opposite the entry to the Courts.

The Childrens Court is located in the same building but has a separate entrance which is located to the left of the entrance to the Magistrates and Supreme Courts.

Car Parking

There are two car parks within easy walking distance of both Courts: one is alongside the court precinct (access off Knowles Place) and another, smaller one is in Hobart Place (access off London Circuit or Marcus Clarke St).

For further information about pay parking in the City Centre - including location and fees - see the Access Canberra website.

The length of time that you will need to park can be difficult to estimate as there can be unforeseen delays in your matter or the matters scheduled before yours. You may need to get dropped off at the Courts building or get an all-day car park.

Café and food facilities

A coffee shop is located on the ground floor inside the Law Courts building, Knowles Place.

The coffee shop is called  Macciato. It is operated by Zouki Australia. Operating times are subject to change. Contact  Zouki Australia for further enquiries, including catering.  The Court cannot guarantee the opening hours or availability of items.

You can access the coffee shop before you pass through security. Whilst food, coffee and drinks can generally be brought into the Court building, metal and glass objects, such as bottles and cans or cutlery, are not allowed though security. Please refer to our security screening information.

A number of other food and beverage outlets are located nearby.

Vending machines and drinking fountains are located inside the Law Courts building.
