CCTV
CCTV at the ACT Courts and Tribunal
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is installed through the ACT Courts, ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the ACT Forensic Medicine Centre.
Purpose
The purpose of CCTV is to promote the safety and security of people, assets and information.
Privacy
The CCTV system is operated with due regard to privacy and human rights.
Footage
CCTV footage recorded at the ACT Law Courts and the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal is retained for a period of 30 days from the date of recording.
Footage recorded at the ACT Forensic Medicine Centre is retained for a period of 7 days.
Requests for Footage
Applications may be submitted to obtain copies of CCTV footage for the purposes of investigating a criminal offence or workplace injury. Requests must be made using the approved application form, which is available from Court Security by email at CourtsSecurity@courts.act.gov.au, or in person at the ACT Law Courts, 4 Knowles Place, Canberra City, ACT. All completed application forms must be submitted via email to SIO@courts.act.gov.au.
The application will be reviewed by a Registrar, who will determine whether the footage may be released.

Complaints
Complaints can be made about the management of the CCTV system by emailing the Chief Executive Officer at feedback@courts.act.gov.au. A copy of the ACT Courts and Tribunal complaint and feedback policy is available.
