REMOTE WITNESS ROOMS

In some matters such as sexual assault or family violence witnesses will automatically be allowed to give their evidence remotely.

If you are a witness who wants to/needs to give your evidence remotely then the person who is assisting you (eg. Legal Aid, the Police) will need to apply to the court.

The ACT Courts and Tribunals have Remote Witness Rooms for complainants and witnesses to give their evidence via audiovisual link rather than in the courtroom for relevant ACT court matters and other external jurisdictions.

For more information and to arrange a pre-court tour of these rooms and courtrooms, please contact the Courts Assistance officer on (02) 6205 0322.
