ACT Courts and Tribunal end of year sitting dates and shutdown details
The Registry of the ACT Law Courts
The Registry of the ACT Law Courts will be closed from 3:00 pm on Tuesday 24 December 2019 and will re-open at 9:00 am on Thursday 2 January 2020.
Duty Court for Criminal Matters
Duty Court will be accessible via the Childrens Court entrance (located to the left of the main Court entrance when facing the building).
Payment of fines
Fines cannot be paid when the registry is closed. Fines may be paid when the registry re-opens on Thursday 2 January 2020.
Emergency Family Violence Protection Orders
You may apply for an emergency Family Violence Protection Order by contacting the Australian Federal Police on 131444 or attending City Police Station, London Circuit Canberra City.

Emergency Court Proceedings
Legal Practitioners may request the Registry to be opened during the holiday shutdown period by telephoning (02) 6207 1203 and paying the applicable fees outlined in the relevant Supreme Court or Magistrates Court Fee Determination.

ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT)
The registry will be closed over the Christmas shutdown period from 3pm on Tuesday 24 December 2019 reopening at 9am on Thursday 2 January 2020. Please note that emails and telephones will not be monitored over this period. Details of arrangements for filing documents and for hearing of urgent matters during the shutdown period will be sent to stakeholders and will be included on the ACAT website www.acat.act.gov.au . There will be a duty member available during the shutdown period for urgent mental health and guardianship matters.
