Paying a Court Imposed Fine

Where do I pay my fine?

You must pay your fine directly to the Court. Court fines cannot be paid at any other agency.

How do I pay my fine?

There are several ways in which to pay a Court imposed fine:

  • In person by attending the Magistrates Court counter and paying by cash, credit card, eftpos, bank cheque, personal cheque or money order. The Magistrates Court is situated at 4 Knowles Place, Canberra City.

  • By posting your fine along with a bank cheque, personal cheque or money order to:

    ACT Magistrates Court
GPO Box 370 Canberra City ACT 2601

  • Or by direct debit. If you wish to pay by direct debit you will need to visit the Magistrates Court in order to lodge your debit form.

What if I am unable to pay in the time allowed?

If you are unable to pay the full amount of the fine within the time allowed by the court you may apply to the Court to be allowed extra time to pay and to pay by instalments using instalments and direct debit forms.  Payments can be lodged in person or mailed to the above address.
