Changes in Banking Arrangements

Important Notice Regarding Magistrates Court Trust Cheques issued prior to 27 August 2013:  Due to a change in banking arrangements all cheques issued by the Magistrates Court Trust account with the Commonwealth Bank will be cancelled by 30 September 2013 if not presented before this date.

All holders of Magistrates Court Trust cheques against the Commonwealth Bank account that have not been presented and cleared with the Commonwealth Bank before this account closes on 30 September 2013 will need to contact the Magistrates Court to request that their payment be reissued.   (court.finance.section@act.gov.au ; or mail ACT Magistrates Court, Finance Unit, GPO Box 370, CANBERRA CITY, ACT 2601; or attend the Court directly).  You will need to provide sufficient identification and if possible the original cheque so that your claim can be verified.

Any monies not claimed will be treated as unclaimed monies.  Monies not claimed up to six years old can be claimed at the Magistrates Court.  Any monies not claimed after six years will be notified as unclaimed monies and will need to be claimed through Chief Ministers and Treasury Directorate.
