CCTV at the ACT Law Courts and Tribunal
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is installed through the ACT Law Courts, ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the ACT Forensic Medicine Centre.
The purpose of CCTV is to promote the safety and security of people, assets and information.
The CCTV system is operated with due regard to people’s privacy and human rights.
Footage is routinely retained for a minimum of 30 days and then recorded over.
CCTV footage may be kept to assist in investigating a safety, security or medical event.
Requests for Footage
Applications can be made to obtain copies of CCTV footage to assist in reviewing incidents. The first step is to call court security on (02) 6207 1619 providing relevant date, time and location of the event. Telephone requests are then followed up by a formal request to the Manager, Property and Security using an application form available from CourtsSecurity@courts.act.gov.au.
Complaints can be made about the management of our CCTV system by emailing the Principal Registrar at Courts.Feedback@courts.act.gov.au. A copy of the ACT Law Courts and Tribunal complaint and feedback policy is available from our websites.
